Hi Misty, it’s a pleasure to have you here. Would you like to talk a bit about what do you do?
I help people find their purpose and bring it to life.
I believe we all have a purpose – something unique; something significant to offer to the world. We have the potential to create something big in our lifetime; something only we can do. And I think deep down, we know that. We know there is something we’re meant to do – but we may be unsure what. Or how. Or where to start. And this is where I come in.
What’s your story?
I’ve always felt conscious of the fact that life is finite. So, throughout my life I’ve carried an excited impatience to do, experience, explore, understand and learn everything I can while I’m here.
The knowledge that I wouldn’t be around forever kept me thinking about what impact I would have on the world – what would I leave behind? I felt like there was something I was meant to do or carry out in my life. That feeling eventually became so strong I couldn’t ignore it anymore – it was constantly in the back of my mind. I kept wondering; what is my purpose?
All life of adventures lead me closer, little by little. These adventures included a three year real estate career; a year truck driving in Western Australia; travel to Japan, Bali, Turkey, Greece, and Western Europe; hosting a radio show; launching a social music app; spending a month in India with a yogi; completing a business and marketing degree; and embracing a ‘live off the land’ lifestyle beside the sea. I loved every moment, but knew I hadn’t quite found that ‘thing’ I was meant to do. It frustrated me – I knew there was something, and I wanted to do it!
When I finally figured it out that my purpose was to help others find their purpose, it felt like my entire being just sighed with relief; like ‘Yes – now we can do this!’ Honestly, I felt every cliche – the clicking into place, the lightbulb moment, the overwhelming relief. It felt amazing. It feels amazing. Knowing what your purpose is gives you this beautiful confidence and drive – you know what you’re meant to do, and you’re gonna do it.
Now that I knew what my purpose was, I needed to figure out what to do with it – how I was going to live it out. Another thought kept popping up – in hindsight, it was so clear where and why I had missed my purpose for so long. As much as I loved the journey, I couldn’t help but think I would have found my purpose a lot earlier (and easier) if I had known where to look and what to look for!
As I thought about that idea more and more, I realised that was my life’s work – helping people figure out exactly what their purpose is, and how they can bring it to life in a way that is clear and easy to follow. I do this through articles and blog posts, online courses, one on one, and I also have a free toolkit that people can use to get them started. I love it!
What inspires you?
People who are living their purpose; because they’re so passionate. They’re confident, and have so much enthusiasm for whatever it is they do. You can’t help but be inspired! I’m also inspired by anything space related (you’re my hero, Neil deGrasse Tyson!), nature related and mind related (philosophy, psychology, neuroscience, biology).
What does life look like for you now?
I’m very blessed to live in the beautiful country of New Zealand. My husband and I live beside the sea on the family farm I grew up on, and we’re welcoming our first baby in March! My days are usually spent writing, learning, connecting with people all over the world who are looking for their purpose, growing veggies, at the beach, and on the farm with the family.
Thank you Misty!
